Our family of websites is complete
Dec 1 2008 by Graeme Whitfield, The Journal
THE final six community websites bringing more local news to the people of Northumberland will be launched by The Journal today.
People living in the areas around Seaton Delaval, Seahouses and Belford, Allendale, Bellingham and the North Tyne, Widdrington and Lynemouth, and Corbridge, Riding Mill and Stocksfield can now get even more news, sport and features from The Journal than ever before.
The six microsites join another 16 that we have already set up in other parts of the county.
As well as news from our existing district reporters in Hexham, Alnwick and Bedlington, a new team of specialised writers work on the websites, bringing readers the news that matters to them.
And there is the opportunity for people living in those areas to add news of their own by registering as community correspondents where they live.
Journal editor Brian Aitken said: “The project has proved to be a great success and we have been very pleased with the response from the local community so far.
“We are confident the project will go from strength to strength now that all of the sites have been completed.
“Northumberland has always been The Journal’s heartland and the microsites now mean that we can offer an even better service to our readers in the county, both online and in print.”
Other areas which already have websites are Blyth, Prudhoe, Cramlington, Alnwick, Ponteland, Bedlington, Hexham, Ashington, Berwick, Morpeth, Amble, Rothbury, Wooler, Haltwhistle, Newbiggin and Choppington.
