Keegan fan: Closest thing to God has gone

NEWCASTLE fans deluged The Journal’s website yesterday with their views on the Keegan rumour mill.
Many complained the Magpies were now a laughing stock and most bemoaned the lack of information all day from any club official.
Writing on the forums, on www.journallive.co.uk, mjmark 1970 said: “What a joke we are yet again in the football world!”
Director84 warmed to the theme, saying: “Is it just me or are we becoming the biggest laughing stock in the history of the Premier League? If the rumours are true and Keegan has been shown the door, I for one as a Newcastle fan and season ticket holder will not be returning to St James’s Park!”
Other fans expressed frustration over the transfer policy, with Oli saying: “Whether he was sacked or he walked, it makes little odds.
“Milner was sold without his say so, the same thing was tried with Barton (much as I’d love to see the back of him), and Keegan reportedly never got to see our two new signings play. If he walked, he had good reason to.”
Munstermag summed up the opinion of many fans as devastation that the Messiah had apparently left the building.
He wrote: “Lads, I think most of us just want to mourn. These two days have been terrible.
“We missed out on the Arabs, our chances of winning anything ever have just decreased, and now the closest thing to God has gone.”
Nufc1983 called for an immediate replacement, presuming Keegan had left.
He said: “I think now is as good a time as any to start speculating and discussing a new manager – after all, we need one.
“We have just under two weeks until our next game. Hopefully we will have someone in place by then and can get the season up and running. We have a decent squad, with some good players. Fingers crossed it’s a good manager who comes in who at least keeps us going in the right direction and has us playing decent football, which Keegan has brought back after Allardyce’s short reign.”
But not all fans were sad to see the back of KK.
Mani said he’d been disappointed with the reappointment. “I knew the club wanted to take a new modern approach to the game by nurturing young players and for me that was never suited for Keegan. However, I said I would support him.
“The writing was on the wall, my biggest doubt was Kevin was never in any way fit to have the knack of handling a modern day set-up of a football club, and my concerns may have sadly been just vindicated.”
Meanwhile, Lockie wrote: “It’s obvious that Keegan wasn’t getting the full backing of the board and they were interfering with his running of the team. This is the worst news I’ve had as a fan since SBR got sacked!
“I don’t know how this club can go anywhere now. We are a total joke and don’t deserve anything. The fans and manager have been treated disgracefully.”
