SUNDERLAND’S biggest ever women’s business event is aiming to celebrate the success of female entrepreneurs and encourage others to follow.
Anne Ganley, who runs the Thompsons building supplies firm in Sunderland, and Margaret Elliott, who grew the Sunderland Home Care social enterprise, will be speaking at the Winning Ways Wearside event later this month. The day has been organised by Sunderland enterprise company SES and regional female business networking group Women into the Network (WIN) and is part of the Back on the Map regeneration programme for Hendon and the East End of the city.
WIN director Dinah Bennett said: “There are some fantastic role models in the region and we are highlighting some from Sunderland’s East End who will be demonstrating to their fellow residents that anything is possible.
“This will be the biggest women’s business networking event ever to take place in the city and we aim to make subsequent events bigger and better. We are really excited about this opportunity to introduce a whole new raft of women into the world of networking and business.” Linda Rutter of SES added: “This is a great opportunity for women business owners and people looking for inspiration for themselves to get a boost.”
The event, which takes place on Tuesday, September 16, at the Quayside Exchange Building, will include workshops and question and answer sessions. There will also be a creche available. Places can be booked via SES on (0191) 565-0476 or by contacting Alison Tilley at WIN on (0191) 334-5502.
