Now Rock sells off new £100m offices

Months of uncertainty at an end as workers leave

YESTERDAY marked the end of months of uncertainty for staff at Northern Rock as they left the troubled lender’s headquarters for the last time.

Anthony Arrowsmith, from Gateshead, was among those saying their final goodbye to colleagues yesterday.

The 26-year-old, who managed a team of 14 in the personal secured loans completion department, said: “Everyone was quite sad to be saying goodbye to people who they worked with. There were a few tears.”

Richard Gore, 31, from Gosforth, was fairly optimistic about the future.

He said: “The atmosphere has been quite leisurely today with everyone saying goodbye.

“I already have another job lined up so I’m quite pleased to be leaving actually.”
