Phenomenal response so far - but appeal needs more support

NATIONAL Trust bosses have urged more people to get involved in a fundraising effort to save a Northumberland stately home one month into the campaign.
More than £15,000 has been raised after the trust said it would put forward £6.9m to save Seaton Delaval Hall, providing a national campaign could raise the remaining £6.3m – including £1m in the North East.
The largest ever consultation process undertaken by the National Trust is well under way and support from local communities has already been forthcoming with people offering to host coffee mornings, flower arranging demonstrations and bring-and-buy sales.
The Trust’s regional co-ordinator Liz Fisher said: “The response we’ve had so far has been phenomenal.
“The appeal for the National Trust to save Seaton Delaval Hall has really captured the imagination.
“But we still need more support. So please, make a donation, request a fundraising pack and keep in touch with your ideas.”
The stately home, located between Seaton Delaval and Seaton Sluice, is being sold by Lord Hastings.
The Journal is backing the regional appeal and a special website address has been set up – www.journallive.co.uk/ seatondelavalhall
