Man in custody charged with Army captain's murder

A man was remanded in custody today charged with the murder of a former Army captain who was found battered and bleeding in his own home.
Harry Lindley, 89, was found by his carer lying in a pool of blood in his Newcastle home on April 16 and died in hospital almost a month later.
Michael Stephenson, 20, of Westbury Avenue, Walker, Newcastle, faced the city’s magistrates accused of the pensioner’s murder.
