Pictures of the month
Feb 23 2008 by Graeme Whitfield, The Journal
OUR second selection of great Journal photographs takes in celebrations from around the world.
One of the best pictures in our February round-up actually came at the tail end of January, with Tim McGuinness taking a fantastic picture of a Burns Night piper just after the deadline for our January Photos of the Month.
A few weeks later the celebrations took on a more Eastern flavour, with Tim again capturing a great shot of children from the Shanghai Children’s Palace Theatre.
But Tim’s hat-trick of great pictures ends with one from a more North Eastern celebration, with children from Alnwick getting down and dirty at the Shrove Tuesday football match.
There’s also a wonderful picture of a surfer taken by Lewis Arnold, some wintry scenes and a spectacular shot of the Angel of the North being lit up on Valentine’s Day to mark its 10th anniversary.
As well as the pictures you can see here, there are more on an online gallery of some of the best pictures we have taken in February by going to www.journallive.co.uk/photoofthemonth.
