Cheryl a victim of website hoax

NORTH pop singer Cheryl Tweedy and her football star husband Ashley Cole have become the latest celebrity victims of internet hoaxers.

A spoof message has been posted on the Bebo social networking site by someone pretending to be the Newcastle born Girls Aloud singer.

The fake message, full of grammatical errors, says: “I’m a geordie slapper wahey!!! My names Cheryl! I’m engaged so don’t hit on me!”

It goes on to say: “Have a nice life! And don’t be hating on me and getting jealous coz u aint got my life ok?”

A Girls Aloud spokesman said: “Cheryl is not on any of the social networking sites. We will pass this on to our lawyers who will take a look at it.”

The site contains more than 140 pictures of the singer, who shot to fame after the band won ITV’s Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. The band has since had a string of hits.

No one from website Bebo was available for comment.
