NORTH-East playwright Ed Waugh knows a thing or too when it comes to seeing acting talent at work.

With hit plays Dirty Dusting and Waiting for Gateaux under his belt, he has worked with a number of top actors in the North-East, and he has also reviewed hundreds of performers as a theatre critic.

But it was Raging Bull star Robert de Niro who topped the chart as his favourite ever actor.

He said: “A truly great actor and he was in some stunning films. He just has an amazing presence. When he is on screen, he’s the one everyone is looking at.

“He can be the most intimidating character I’ve seen and then the next minute a complete change.”

But it was one scene from the 1985 film Witness, which landed Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis spots three and four. “I’ve nominated these two together purely for the scene in Witness where they sing Wonderful World together. That has to be the sexiest scene in cinema ever.”
