It’s a home win for us

A LUCKY family of four from Northumberland have won their own holiday home in the Lake District in a Journal competition.

Caravan winner Alison Hedley with husband Paul and daughters Fern, three, and Chloe, nine

Alison Hedley, of Ellington, had her name pulled out of the hat to win the competition, run in association with South Lakeland Parks, to have the use of a static caravan for 12 months.

Alison had to collect 24 tokens from The Journal.

Now Alison and her family will have exclusive use of the home at the five-star White Cross Bay holiday park at Windermere.

The family – Alison, 42, husband Paul, 45, and daughters Chloe, nine, and Fern, three, who attend Ellington First School and Nursery, said they were surprised and delighted to have won.

Alison said: “It was great to find out we had won. I can’t wait to get out for the first time to see it. We are keen caravanners already, although this will be much bigger than anything we have used before.

“We usually go up to Scotland for our holidays, so it will make a nice change to go to the Lake District.”

Paul said: “We are planning to go up there as soon as possible. I’m looking forward to using the marina and the other facilities there.”

The home, which sleeps up to six people, is a perfect holiday retreat and the family will be able to go when they like during 2008.

The park offers an indoor heated swimming pool with sauna, gym and à la carte restaurant.

There is a children’s play and picnic area and charming woodland surroundings.

And of course the whole thing is right next door to some of the most beautiful scenery the country has to offer as well as all the leisure opportunities of the lake District.

These include walking, cycling, sailing, golf, fishing, windsurfing, climbing, canoeing, horse riding and bird watching.
