A song for Madeleine

A NORTH man has written a song in a bid spur the nation into action in the search for missing toddler Madeleine McCann.

The four-year-old disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment in the popular resort of Praia de Luz, Portugal, in May.

And Nigel Graham, 38, of Wellbank Road, Usworth Road, Washington, who saw the first news reports of the suspected kidnapping on GMTV, said he has felt a strong connection with the case ever since.

The tune, Madeleine’s Song, has so far attracted more than 1,500 hits on video sharing internet site YouTube.

He said: “In the age we live in, people can go to the moon, so how can we not find a child who has gone missing on holiday. I strongly believe we need to work together to do more to help find Maddie, and I believe she is still alive. I’ve written songs for years and one day I just had a brainwave that maybe I could write something about this.

“I think someone out there knows something and I wanted the song to break that someone’s heart so that they go to the police.”

Nigel, a loss prevention officer for a large organisation, joined YouTube under the username Nigekeys just two weeks ago to post his song.

Nigel said: “So far I’ve received nothing but positive comments and I want to ask any critics out there what they are doing.

“I haven’t made any money from the song or the video and I wouldn’t want a record deal – that’s why I use YouTube because it’s free and it’s for everyone.

“I’m just hoping to reach someone and I would spend money to get the message across.”
