Lady Kitt offers a blow-by-blow guide to pop art

A NORTH artist is set to give gallery visitors something to chew over with her next project.
For two days at the end of this month, performance artist Lady Kitt – real name Kitt Jackson – will blow bubblegum bubbles, attach them to blank canvasses and encourage her audience to do the same.
The performance – called Desperate for Shapes – at Gallery Glue in Heaton, Newcastle, will also invite the audience to join in with their own colourful creation.
Kitt, 27, who grew up in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, is also calling on her musician sister Bridie Jackson and composer father Andy Jackson for some musical inspiration over the course of her residency, on July 28 and 29.
Kitt, who now lives in Jesmond, Newcastle, said: “I guess it’s going to be quite colourful because bubble gum tends to come in really vivid colours.
“I’ve been doing some experiments at home. Some bubbles stay intact for ages, some burst and make interesting little patterns.”
Kitt is looking for musicians of any style or ability to play as people stick their bubbles to the canvas.
