Newcastle City Council leader John Shipley and managing director of Capital Shopping Centres Kay Chaldecott meet at Old Eldon Square on Thursday to toast the opening of two new restaurants - Strada and Wagamama.
The restaurants are the first units to be completed in the £170m remodelling of Eldon Square Shopping Centre which is due to be completed in 2009.
Ride on Tyne
THE Journal yesterday published an article which mistakenly stated that the Geordie Chapter of the Harley Davidson Club had taken gifts to children at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
The charity run was actually carried out by members of the Ride on Tyne forum, who regularly meet at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre in Washington. The group had donated the gifts themselves.
The Journal apologises for any inconvenience these errors may have caused.

TEN 14 and 15-year-olds are graduating from a 10-week firefighting course today.
The pupils, from Atkinson House School, Seghill and Ponteland High School took part in the 20th FIREworks course to be run by Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service.

WINNERS of a schools competition to choose the name for a new affordable housing development in Wooler, Northumberland, will be announced by Berwick MP Alan Beith on Friday.
Pupils at Milfield First, Wooler First and Glendale Middle Schools have been involved.
Lottery scam
TRADING standards officers in Hartlepool have issued an alert over a new lottery scam.
They are warning people to ensure they don't pay any money or provide details about themselves or their bank accounts. A man who bought a lottery ticket in Spain was con-tacted at home by bogus bank workers who asked him to send £560 because he had won a prize.
