Children of courage

1 Keen sportsman Jordan Thompson, 14, of West Denton, Newcastle, diagnosed with acute myloblastic leukaemia, recently participated in the Teenage Cancer Trust event at The Sage Gateshead. Jordan received golf clubs as his gift.

2 Denham Peacock, 12, of Middlesbrough, has battled on bravely with a bone tumour and has used his great sense of humour to cheer up others. Denham was presented with a Nintendo Wii.

3 Brett Chapman, 11, of Easington, County Durham, has undergone radiotherapy and chemotherapy after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, showing humour and courage throughout.

4 Connor Mooney, aged six, of Newcastle, was first diagnosed with cancer in April 2005, but suffered a relapse in May this year. He has shown exceptional bravery while attending hospital and was given a Malvin Garden Playden as his gift.

5 Phillipa Callaghan, aged nine, of Morpeth, Northumberland, was diagnosed with a tumour in her kidney in June. Hospital staff said it had been a pleasure to spend time with such a humorous and outgoing young lady. She received a laptop as her gift.

6 Shaunna Coyle, 15, of Newcastle, has bravely battled leukaemia. She was given an iPod and speakers.

7 Ryan Carter, 14, of Sunderland, is awaiting a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with Birkett's Lymphoma. He received games for his Xbox 360.

8 Josie Grove, 16, of Corbridge, has displayed huge spirit in fighting acute myeloid leukaemia. Josie received a ball chair.

9 Rachael Dixon, 12, of Sunderland, has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and has raised funds for ward 16 at the RVI tirelessly. She was given a laptop.

10 Danielle Lowes, 15, of Sunderland, is battling osteosarcoma, a bone tumour. She was unable to attend yesterday's event, but will receive a Sony Playstation 2 and games.
