Brand-leader for the region

Sarah Stewart will lead an executive team of five people to drive the Science City project.

She came to the North-East in 1981, after studying history and law at Cambridge University, to train as a brand manager with Procter & Gamble.

In 1987 she became Price Waterhouse's head of marketing consultancy for the North of England and Scotland.

She then moved on to serve on the board of The Sage Group plc for two years, before working as an independent marketing consultant for major companies such as Bank of Scotland, Greggs, Newcastle Building Society and Shell International.

Mrs Stewart, 48, lives in Gosforth, Newcastle, with her husband Alastair, a wine merchant, and children Nicholas, 12, and Catherine, nine.
