Surfers welcome news of curbs
Surfers out on the freezing Cullercoats coastline yesterday reacted warmly to the news that jet- skiers who fail to stick to new rules governing where and how fast they can ski could be in line for an anti-social behaviour order.

John Millard, 33, runs The Surf Shop in Tynemouth which teaches thousands of children and young adults each year. He said: "This is exactly what we need for surfers. Down in Australia they have sharks. Here we have jet-skiers.
"One day someone is going to get killed. They have absolutely no consideration for surfers. These things are massive and so powerful - and you don't even need a licence to drive one. Last summer we were cringing in anticipation of an accident and, when you have loads of children to look after, it can be a terrifying thing."
