Seaton Delaval Hall campaign backed by BBC Countryfile

A POPULAR television programme is to feature Seaton Delaval Hall, providing a boost for a Journal-backed effort to save it.
A piece for BBC One’s rural affairs show Countryfile was shot earlier this week as The National Trust continue their drive to raise £6.3m to save the historic Northumberland home.
The show’s producers were interested in the Trust’s attempt to acquire the hall from owner Lord Hastings and use it for the good of the community.
They filmed inside the hall and its grounds as well as the surrounding area for a show due to air on Sunday March 22.
Adam Henson, BBC Countryfile presenter said: “I was amazed by the hall, gardens and grounds at Seaton Delaval – it is a wonderful place.
“The whole concept of using the place as a local community venue as well as a tourist attraction is a great idea – well done to the National Trust. I wish them the best of luck with their fundraising efforts and would love to see them become the proud owners of such a special place.
“What came across strongly to us is that the local community really do have a desire to protect the green space around the hall and make the most of the links to surrounding nature reserves.
“The public have been very generous in the donations they have made so far to save Seaton Delaval Hall and Grounds, but there is a long way to go. I only hope people can keep up with their generosity and help the National Trust secure the hall once and for all.”
