Sculpture of Steve Harper to be auctioned to save Delaval Hall

Cuppa cash

ENTERPRISING students were also inside St James’s Park yesterday to lend their support to the National Trust’s campaign.

The sixth form teenagers from St Benet Biscop High School in Bedlington, Northumberland, have spent the last three months engineering a business proposal that could raise cash for the charity.

And after running a school competition to design artwork for a mug, a winning design will now be mass produced to raise money for the hall. The school business group, called Royale Designs, is made up of four students, who are currently trying to find a venue to sell the product.

They are Charlotte Goodwin, 17, from Ellington, Northumberland; Jade Appleby,17, from Bedlington; Simon Phelan, 17, from Ashington; and Blaine Evan, 17, from Morpeth.

Last night Charlotte said: "We had a start-up of £50, and we had to come up with an idea. We wanted to help Seaton Delaval Hall because it’s local and current and it’s important to the area.

The students yesterday met Newcastle United keeper Steve Harper inside the Tyneside club’s changing room.
