THE Search is on to find the best companies to work for in the North East.

The North East of England Branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has teamed up with The Journal to recognise the region's top employees and companies.

The North East of England CIPD HR&D awards celebrate those people who have gone that extra mile in recruitment and training, culminating in a ceremony at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton in May 2012.

There are eight awards in total, which recognise the contributions of both organisations and individuals. The overall awards are in association with The Journal and Nigel Wright Recruitment and each award category is sponsored by well-known organisations, including Northumbrian Water, Home Group, Newcastle University Business School, Cintra HR & Payroll Services, Ward Hadaway, MidlandHR and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.

The Event:

The awards will be presented at a prestigious awards evening taking place at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on Thursday 3rd May 2012. The evening will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, high-spec audiovisuals and the awards presentations. Year-on-year this event attracts the leading HR and Development professionals from the local business community making this a valuable networking opportunity.

The event organisers expect the gala event to be better than ever this time and attract over 350 people to cheer on the winners. They are already taking bookings for tables. Catherine Attwell, the CIPD Chair, said: “With all the problems companies have faced, it will be nice to celebrate the success the HR & Learning and Development functions have achieved in supporting business aims in such difficult conditions.”

Past winners include John Lewis, Nexus, Northumbria Police, North Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Homes.
