YOUNG TALENT

JACK Bucknall was in the right spot to capture the picture of a wren which won him the junior section of the competition.
Jack, 12, lives in Whitley Bay and attends Valley Gardens Middle School.
He says: “ I knew there was a wren’s nest somewhere in our garden.
“I saw what looked like a young wren at the bottom of the garden and followed it around until it hopped on to the fence and I got my picture. I was thrilled to win.”
Jack’s interest in wildlife photography was sparked by a visit last year to the Scottish Seabirds Centre at North Berwick.
One of his favourite spots for bird photography is Cresswell Ponds behind Druridge Bay.
Second junior prize went to Rebecca Ashworth, of Morpeth, for her study of a swan and third place was taken by Daniel Sisterson, 14, from Cramlington, for his image of a tern.
