CAUGHT ON FILM

A PORTRAIT of a hare near Hexham in Northumberland earned Graham Dixon third place in the competition’s adult category.

Graham, who lives near Hexham, was walking along a track leading towards moorland when he spotted the hare in the distance.

He says: “It was a long way off and I was hoping it would come towards me.

“I sat down next to a wall and waited. The hare stopped in just the right place and sat down in front of me.”

A highly commended award went to 19-year-old Adam Pacey, who is studying geology at Durham University.

Adam, who lives in North Broomhill in Northumberland, had gone to Hauxley nature reserve near Amble to photograph birds.

But the sunset over adjacent Druridge Bay proved a better bet.
