METRO services between North Shields and Tynemouth have been suspended after a lorry hit a bridge.
It happened at around 3.45pm at Tanners Bank, North Shields, when the roof of the lorry caught a girder.
There is not thought to be any structural damage to the bridge but services are suspended until further notice while engineers make safety checks.
