Woman suffers life-threatening burns after house fire in Jarrow

A WOMAN is in hospital with life-threatening burns following a house fire in Jarrow.

The police were called to a house in Westfield, Jarrow, South Tyneside, at 1.55am this morning, Wednesday, February 20, after receiving a call from the occupant.

On arrival officers found the house on fire and other emergency services were called. Following a search of the house, a 48-year-old woman was rescued by fire fighters and following treatment by paramedics she was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening burns.

At this time the fire is not being treated as suspicious and no one else is being sought in connection with it.
