DELAYS are expected on the Metro service from Gateshead into Newcastle after a crack was discovered in the rail line this morning.
The service was halted for 40 minutes this morning as an engineer was called in to inspect the crack near the Gateshead Stadium station at around 8am.
Passengers were offered a replacement bus service from Heworth.
A spokesman for Nexus apologised to customers and said delays are expected for the remainder of the day.
He said: "We're sorry about the inconvenience and are doing everything we can to look after our customers."
