Man arrested for manslaughter of pensioner John Farrow

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the death of a pensioner.

John Farrow, 74, died on Thursday after an incident at his home on Burns Avenue, Houghton le Spring, Tyne and Wear, on Sunday January 20.

Police were called to the property at around 2.30am after reports of banging on the door, before Mr Farrow was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

He leaves behind his wife Jean.

The 30-year-old man was originally arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm shortly after the incident.

He has since been re-arrested on suspcion of manslaughter and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
