Jobs on the line as HMV prepares to call in administrators

IT has been reported tonight that music retailer HMV will go into administration tomorrow, putting 4,000 jobs at risk.

Following a meeting this evening, administrators Deloitte, are poised to be brought in to take over the company, which has around 235 stores, including those in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Shields, Durham and Sunderland.

It will be the latest blow to the high street following the collapse of Jessops, the camera retailer, which closed on Friday, with the loss of 1,400 jobs.
