Commuters face delays after crash near Warkworth

COMMUTERS are facing delays after a road was closed following a two-vehicle smash in Northumberland.

Firefighters were called to the A1068, north of Warkworth, Northumberland, today at around 6.45am, following the crash involving a Ford Focus and a VW Golf.

The road is currently closed.

One casualty was airlifted to hospital via the Sea King RAF Boulmer.

Another casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance with spinal injuries.

Two other passengers were described by a Northumberland Fire spokeswoman as "walking wounded".

Crews from Anwick and Amble were on scene and left just after 8am.
