A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery at a North Tyneside betting shop.
Staff at Ladbrokes on Front Street in Seaton Burn were left shaken after a man with a handgun burst in at about 7.50pm on Saturday.
It is said the robber stuffed cash into a carrier bag before making off.
The suspect is being questioned and police say inquiries are ongoing.
