A DAMP and dark start to Thursday will see little change as the day moves on.

And the cooler conditions are set to tighten their grip - temperatures are unlikely to rise above freezing this weekend and we're set for snowfall.

Today will see a high of 5°C with moderate to thick cloud cover reducing the chance of any sunny spells.

But no rain is forecast until later this evening, although the odd light shower cannot be ruled out before then.

Expect a light westerly breeze that could make it feel two or three degrees cooler.

It'll be a cold and wet night with tomorrow looking like a carbon copy of today.

The change comes on Saturday in the form of sub-zero temperatures, becoming more severe over Sunday and Monday, and snow.
