A CITY centre store was cordoned off over fears of falling roof tiles.
Police were called at around 11am to the Urban Outfitters store, on Grainger Street, Newcastle, at around 11am today.
A section of the pavement was closed to protect Christmas shoppers who had thronged to Tyneside to buy last-minute gifts.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “We were called to Grainger Street to reports of tiles falling off the roof.
“A section of the pavement was closed to protect the public.”
