Police confirm 999 service from landlines in Kenton are working again

RESIDENTS in the Kenton area have had the 999 service from landlines restored.

Northumbria Police confirmed earlier today that they had received reports from British Telecom that there had been a loss of the 999 service from landlines in the Kenton area of Newcastle.

But the service is now back up and running.

The public could still contact 999 on mobile phones and the non-emergency 101 number was not affected.
