POLICE are today probing a picture which appears to show a football fan making racist gestures towards players at the Stadium of Light.
The snap was posted online following Sunderland's 4-0 defeat to West Brom, on Saturday.
The picture, which is now circulating on the social networking site Twitter, shows a supporter, sitting in the home end, making what look like monkey gestures at Belgium international Romelu Lukaku as he celebrates his team's third goal.
Northumbria Police recieved a complaint at 10.10pm on Saturday night.
A spokesman said: "Police are carrying out enquiries after a report of racist abuse at the Sunderland versus West brom match on Saturday."
