Ron Hogg elected Durham's Police and Crime Commissioner

LABOUR'S Ron Hogg has won the election to become Durham's police and crime commissioner.

The former deputy chief constable won with 36,171 votes, beating independent Kingsley Smith on 18,813, UKIP's Mike Costello on 8,257 and Conservative Nick Varley on 6,900.

There was only a 14.7% turnout in the election.
