A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash on the A1 in Northumberland this morning.
At 7:43am this morning police received a report of a three vehicle collision northbound on the A1, near Felton.
The vehicles involved were a BMW car, a VW van and a Citroen car.
The driver of the VW van was taken to the RVI by air ambulance and subsequently died as a result of his injuries.
A passenger in the VW van was taken to Wansbeck with injuries. It is not thought his injuries are life threatening at this time.
The driver of the BMW suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Citroen was not injured.
A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
A section of the A1 in both directions was closed for around five hours to allow for collision investigation to take place.
