Metro services delayed after passenger takes ill at Gateshead

METRO trains were delayed after a passenger became ill on a carriage. The train was held at Gateshead Stadium Metro Station while paramedics were called shortly after 8.15am today.

The train was held at Gateshead Stadium Metro Station while paramedics were called shortly after 8.15am today.

The passenger was removed from the carriage shortly after 8.30am and the service was resumed.

Delays of 17 minutes followed an all trains between Gateshead Stadium and Newcastle Airport but it is hoped they'll get back to normal throughout the morning.

A spokesman for Nexus said: "At around 8.20am this morning, a passenger took ill on a train at Gateshead Stadium.

"Paramedics were requested and the train was held for about 17 minutes while paramedics dealed with the passenger."
