A TYNESIDE-BORN actress has been nominated for an Oscar.
Janet McTeer OBE, who is from Newcastle, in the running for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
The nomination, announced today, was for the 50-year-old's performance alongside Glenn Close in Albert Nobbs.
Britons Gary Oldman and Kenneth Branagh are also in the running for Academy Awards.
The nominations for the 84th Academy Awards were announced in Beverly Hills by actress Jennifer Lawrence and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Tom Sherak.
