IT might be more used to showcasing music, but over the past three weeks The Cluny in Newcastle has been shifting its focus to some ground-breaking film.
The Ouseburn pub has been hosting its inaugural film festival with a number of free rock-tastic movies. And tonight – to round off ‘Rock Docs’, the first of a varied film series – the legendary 24 Hour Party People will be showing on a specially- installed 12-ft screen in the bar.
Graphically depicting the music and dance history of Manchester from the late 70s to the early 90s, the comedy documents the vibrancy of the city and was inspired by record label owner Tony Wilson’s Factory Records and the birth of ‘Madchester’ and The Hacienda nightclub. It screens at 8.30pm.
