Former headteacher dies in drowning tragedy
A RESPECTED former North East headteacher and author has died in a drowning tragedy while on holiday in Sri Lanka.
Harry Dobson, 70, died on Wednesday after getting into difficulties while swimming in the sea during the summer break with his wife Susan.
Mr and Mrs Dobson, who visited Sri Lanka before, were due to return to their home in High Stobhill, Morpeth, Northumberland on Monday.
After retiring as a headteacher in Broomhill in the mid-1990s, Mr Dobson wrote a number of books and travelogues, all with a local theme.
He and his wife have a son Robert and daughter Rachel.
