Teenager injured in Ashington bike accident

A TEENAGE boy suffered a broken arm and leg when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a car in Northumberland.

The accident happened at 9.15pm last night as the 15-year-old rode his bike along Kenilworth Road in Ashington, near the junction with library gardens.

He was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital after being hit by a Ford Escort travelling south along the road, which was closed for two hours while investigations were carried out.

Northumbria Police today appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact PC Steven Millet on (01661) 863781.
