South Shields police car ram suspect in court

A MAN was due in court today after police officers were injured when their car was rammed.
Michael Kerrigan, 30, of Grindleford Court, South Shields, was set to face South Tyneside magistrates in connection with yesterday's incident.
The crash happened in Geoffrey Street, South Shields, at 2.25am when the marked police car was hit by a stolen Ford Fiesta.
The driver hit the side of the panda car, smashed into a fence and a lamppost and scraped down the side of the house, rupturing the gas pipe attached to the gable end wall.
Kerrigan has been charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and two counts of posession of an offensive weapon.
