Tynemouth cliff rescue drama

A RESCUE operation was launched after a man was spotted close to cliffs in Tynemouth.
The incident unfolded near Tynemouth Priory around 3.45pm and a police helicopter was launched as well as an RNLI crew.
A police negotiator managed to talk to the man who was then taken to safety.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "Police received a report of concern for the welfare of a man on the beach at Tynemouth Priory Castle pier.
"Officers including the police helicopter attended the scene and a man was found safe and well."
An 18-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct.
