Man robbed in Washington

A SIXTY six-year-old man was violently robbed in a Washington street.

The victim was outside Albany Catering, in Waterloo Road, Sulgrave, at 10.30am today when he was set upon from behind.

He managed to fight back, but the robber escaped with a quantity of cash.

The offender made off through the Trafalgar Road estate and jumped into a small blue car which was being driven by an accomplice.

Det Insp Lisa Theaker said: “This was a very frightening experience and an unprovoked and vicious attack on a local man.

“It’s uncommon for this type of offence to occur in this area and our officers will be on patrol within the community to provide reassurance to local residents.”

The robber may have sustained facial injuries during the scuffle.

He is described as white, between 6ft and 6ft 2ins tall, aged in his mid to late 20s, of stocky build and with short hair.

He was wearing a light coloured hat, green bomber jacket, jeans and trainers.
