Gateshead raider stopped by cup of hot coffee
A SHOP assistant foiled an attempted robbery when she threw a cup of coffee at her attacker.
The would-be thief demanded cash from the till at JT & B Craig newsagents on Brighton Road, Gateshead, at around 5.30pm on Thursday.
But the female member of staff refused and threw coffee at the man, who fled empty-handed.
A Northumbria Police spokesman described the raider as aged in his early 20s, slim, about 6ft tall and wearing a coffee-stained grey top.
