A1 closed after fatal road crash in County Durham
A FATAL road crash caused New Year's Eve chaos tonight after the A1(M) in County Durham was closed in both directions.
The accident, which occurred around 4.30pm, is between junctions 60 and 61 near to the Bowburn interchange.
A spokesman for Durham police said the road would be closed for more than two hours before being re-opened.
Police are currently investigating the smash in which one person died, and more details are expected to be released today.
