Elderly couple flee Jarrow home after arson attack
AN ELDERLY couple fled their Tyneside home after a suspected arson attack sent a blaze tearing through their living room.
The pair, a man and a woman both aged in their 60s, ran from the terraced house in Friar Way, Jarrow, as fire swept through the living room on Saturday.
They were woken by fire alarms at around 4am and escaped uninjured before firefighters arrived at the scene. The living room was severely damaged.
