Boy struck in Gateshead street
A YOUNGSTER was taken to hospital suffering from leg injuries after a car reversed over him in Gateshead tonight.
The incident happened at approximately 5am on Kingston Road, in Deckham, Gateshead.
A 10-year-old boy was in the street when a car reversing at low speeds struck him.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was treated for injuries to his leg, but his condition is not thought to be life threatening.
A spokesman for Northumbria police said: “At approximately 5am we were called to Gateshead to reports a car had collided with a pedestrian, a 10-year-old boy.
“He suffered leg injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
“The car was thought to be reversing at the time of the collision, and not travelling at high speeds.”
