A19 pile up latest

NORTHUMBRIA Police have confirmed that the A19 in New Herrington, Sunderland is now reopen.

The northbound carriageway was closed earlier today between the A690 and A183 roundabouts after a six car pile up.

Officers said there were several casualities, who were taken to hospital but have now been released.
