Police involved in a crash in which a 16-year-old girl died could face charges, the police watchdog said today.
Hayley Adamson died on May 19 after she was hit by a Northumbria Police car as she crossed Denton Road in Newcastle.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission said today it had submitted a report on the incident to the Crown Prosecution Service to consider whether to bring criminal charges.
Gary Garland, IPCC Commissioner for the North East, said: ``The IPCC refers its investigation files to the CPS for consideration where there is evidence that a criminal offence may have been committed during an incident.
``I have decided it is appropriate in this case for such scrutiny to take place and the CPS will now decide whether it is appropriate to bring criminal charges."
