Gateshead bookmakers hammer raid

A MAN has been arrested following a raid at a bookmakers in Gateshead.

The raider threatened staff at Chisholm bookmakers, on Min Street, Crawcrook, Ryton, with a hammer before making off with the contents of the till.

No one was injured during the robbery, which happened at around 5.10pm yesterday.

This morning Northumbria Police confirmed they had arrested a 30 year old man in connection with the incident.
