Barmen admit Durham golf club theft
TWO young men today admitted stealing £600 bar takings from an exclusive golf club.
Paul Porter, 19, of Douglas Gardens, Durham City, and Martyn Galvin, 22, from Glaisdale Road, Yarm in Teesside, pleaded guilty to theft when they appeared before Durham Crown Court.
But they both denied further charges of possessing a fake Smith and Wesson gun and of perverting the course of justice.
The duo, who worked as barmen at the prestigious Mount Oswald Manor and Golf Club in South Road, Durham, were arrested in February this year following allegations that they plotted to make up details of an armed robbery to steal £600 from the bar float.
